Tata Power Renewables Commissions 431 MWp Solar Plant At Neemuch Under RUMSL, Capable Of Powering Nearly 95% Of Indore City

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited and a key player in India’s clean energy landscape, has successfully developed a major 431 MWp DC solar power project in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh. This large-scale initiative is a significant contribution to India’s expanding renewable energy capacity and low-carbon infrastructure goals.

The project features advanced technology, combining single-axis solar trackers with bifacial glass-to-glass modules. These trackers follow the sun’s movement throughout the day, while the bifacial modules capture both direct sunlight and reflected light from the ground. This combination enhances energy yield by at least 15% compared to conventional systems. The project falls under the “Solutions for Power Producer” model and was completed within 17 months, demonstrating efficient execution on a massive scale.

Spread across 2,000 acres, the solar installation includes 765,408 bifacial modules. The system is designed with a DC capacity of 431 MWp and an AC output of 330 MW, ensuring high efficiency in energy conversion and optimized system performance. It is expected to generate around 9 crore units of electricity annually, which is sufficient to meet nearly 95% of the power needs of a city the size of Indore.

The power generated from the plant will supply clean electricity to the Western Central Railways and Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL), contributing directly to the decarbonization of public infrastructure and state-level utilities. Furthermore, the project is expected to offset approximately 7,80,300 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year, supporting India’s broader climate goal of reaching 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030.

This project not only reinforces TPREL’s position as a leader in renewable energy development but also highlights the potential of large-scale solar infrastructure in driving sustainable growth and reducing dependency on fossil fuels.
