GameChange Energy Commissions Tracker System at 23 MWp Dannevirke Solar Farm in New Zealand

GameChange Energy has announced the successful commissioning of its tracker system at Bright Fern Energy’s 23 MWp Dannevirke Solar Farm in New Zealand, marking the company’s first completed project in the country and strengthening its presence across the Oceania renewable energy market.

Located in the Manawatu-Whanganui region, the Dannevirke Solar Farm was developed with site-specific considerations including seismic conditions, undulated terrain, high wind exposure and complex construction logistics.

The project features GameChange Energy’s Genius Tracker™ 1P 4 String system. The company also deployed its TopoSmart™ design approach to adapt the tracker system to the site’s terrain, while pre-assembled components were used to streamline installation.

“Dannevirke was an important milestone for us, as it represented the first project to be delivered from Bright Fern Energy’s significant development pipeline in New Zealand,” said Cassidy Prent, Chief Executive, Bright Fern Energy. “GameChange Energy worked closely with our team throughout the project and brought strong engineering support, responsiveness, and practical solutions during both the design and construction phases.”

The successful commissioning comes as New Zealand’s utility-scale solar sector gains momentum, with developers increasingly focusing on infrastructure capable of delivering long-term reliability and performance under challenging site conditions.

“The successful commissioning of Dannevirke is a major milestone for GameChange Energy in New Zealand and across Oceania,” said Vaibhav Joshi, Managing Director – Oceania and Southeast Asia, GameChange Energy. He added that the project involved complex seismic, terrain and weather-related considerations, requiring an engineering-led approach to system design and construction.

Dannevirke is the first of Bright Fern Energy’s fully consented utility-scale solar projects planned for construction in New Zealand. The project is expected to support the company’s broader development pipeline and reflects the growing momentum behind large-scale renewable energy deployment in the country.
