Toyota Aisin Philippines Inc. (TAP) has renewed its retail electricity supply agreement with MPower, the retail electricity unit of Manila Electric Company (Meralco), to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.

The partnership, which has spanned over a decade, ensures that TAP continues to receive reliable and cost-effective energy tailored for its manufacturing facility in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. As the first Toyota Motor Corporation manual transmission manufacturing plant outside Japan, TAP plays a crucial role in the global automotive supply chain, with 95% of drivetrain components exported worldwide. A stable and efficient power supply remains essential for maintaining production standards.

“At TAP, we continuously seek partners who not only share our values but can also actively contribute to advancing our operational excellence and sustainability goals. MPower has consistently proven to be a reliable energy provider, ensuring the seamless operation of our manufacturing processes while fully aligning with our commitment to clean, renewable energy solutions,” said TAP Acting General Manager Allan Cantal.

Since 2013, MPower has supplied TAP’s electricity needs, playing a key role in its transition to 100% renewable energy in December 2019. This milestone aligns with Toyota’s global sustainability and carbon neutrality targets, reinforcing TAP’s environmental commitment.

Meralco First Vice President and Head of MPower, Redel Domingo, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, “We are honored to continue our partnership with Toyota Aisin Philippines, a company that shares our vision for sustainability and innovation. MPower remains committed to delivering dependable, efficient energy solutions that empower businesses like TAP to thrive.”

With this renewed agreement, TAP and MPower reaffirm their commitment to sustainable energy solutions, ensuring that Toyota’s manufacturing operations in the Philippines remain competitive, efficient, and environmentally responsible.
