TP Solar Limited, the solar manufacturing arm of Tata Power and a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Guidance Tamil Nadu and the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) to introduce the ‘Diploma in Renewable Energy’ program. This innovative initiative aims to cultivate a skilled workforce to support India’s rapidly expanding clean energy sector.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Ms. Anupama Ratta, CHRO of TPREL; Dr. Darez Ahamed IAS, MD and CEO of Guidance Tamil Nadu; and Ms. J Innocent Divya IAS, Commissioner of Technical Education.

The three-year diploma program adopts an ‘Earn While Learn’ model, providing students with a unique opportunity to combine academic learning with practical industry training. The curriculum is designed to improve employability by offering a hybrid learning approach, where students will spend three months in the classroom each year and nine months gaining hands-on industry experience. This approach ensures students acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, enhancing their job-readiness.

Additionally, students will receive a monthly stipend during their training, offering financial support while they build crucial skills for their future careers. The Diploma in Renewable Energy will be launched in the academic year 2025-26 across select Government Polytechnic Colleges in Tamil Nadu, with 240 students admitted annually from key districts around Tirunelveli, promoting regional development in clean energy technologies.

By bridging the gap between education and industry, this program sets a new standard in technical education. The initiative will empower a new generation of skilled professionals, contributing to India’s clean energy transition and the growth of its renewable energy sector.
