Trump Says Ukraine Can Reclaim All Territory

In a sudden public shift on his view about the war in Ukraine, U.S. President Donald Trump said that he believes Ukraine can win back all its territory occupied by Russia.

“After getting to know and fully understand the Ukraine/Russia Military and Economic situation and, after seeing the Economic trouble it is causing Russia, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form,” President Trump wrote on his platform Truth Social.

The post, published hours after President Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, appears to ditch the U.S. President’s previous skepticism that Ukraine can hope for retaking land from Russia.

Until now, Trump has repeatedly suggested that Ukraine will have to be ready to cede in peace talks some territory that Russia has occupied.

“With time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO, the original Borders from where this War started, is very much an option,” President Trump wrote.

“Why not? Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years a War that should have taken a Real Military Power less than a week to win. This is not distinguishing Russia. In fact, it is very much making them look like “a paper tiger,” he added.

“Putin and Russia are in BIG Economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act. In any event, I wish both Countries well. We will continue to supply weapons to NATO for NATO to do what they want with them. Good luck to all!” the U.S. President concluded.

Ukraine’s Zelenskyy commented on the post that “It’s a big shift. This post of Trump it’s a big shift. Very positive.”

At his UN speech earlier on Tuesday, President Trump singled out China and India as funding Russia’s war in Ukraine by buying oil, and blamed EU and NATO countries for not having cut off Russian energy purchases.
