UKG, a top provider of HR, payroll, workforce management, and culture solutions, has teamed up with Dell Technologies to open the Dell Technologies Solar Community Hub in Los Pinos Park, Mexico. This hub will serve the hillside communities of Campana and Altamira. Developed in collaboration with Tecnológico de Monterrey and Computer Aid International, the hub will offer around 20,000 local residents access to technology, education, healthcare, and essential infrastructure, tailored to meet the specific needs of the area.
With a population of over 130 million, Mexico is Latin America’s second-largest economy and ranks 15th globally. The World Bank reports that Mexico’s economy grew by an average of just over 2% annually from 1980 to 2022 and achieved 3.2% growth in 2023. The Solar Community Hub in the Campana and Altamira community will not only provide essential health and other services but also offer workforce training and development programs. These initiatives aim to empower residents with the skills needed to contribute to Mexico’s ongoing economic progress.

Dell Technologies’ Solar Community Hubs are an innovative initiative designed to promote equity by providing underserved communities with tools and resources for sustainable development. To date, 48 hubs have been established worldwide, tailored to address local needs. These hubs are constructed from repurposed shipping containers, powered by renewable energy from solar panels, and feature eco-friendly designs.
They offer technology and dedicated spaces for education programs, including basic and advanced computer skills, graphic design, robotics, coding, entrepreneurship, resume building, and career planning. In addition to education, the hubs serve as access points for essential social services such as healthcare, legal and financial support, reliable internet, and safe spaces for community gatherings.
They also support small and micro-enterprises, fostering job creation and financial sustainability within the community. Each hub is designed to blend seamlessly with its surroundings, promoting growth and development driven by the local community. This marks the fourth Solar Community Hub established in Mexico, joining two hubs in the State of Mexico and one in Xalapa, Veracruz.
