Vroon Offshore Services Secures £7 Million ERRV Contract for ScottishPower Renewables’ East Anglia Wind Farms

Aberdeen-based Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) Limited has secured a long-term contract worth more than £7 million from ScottishPower Renewables to provide emergency response and rescue vessel (ERRV) services for the construction of the East Anglia TWO and East Anglia THREE offshore wind farms off the Suffolk coast in the UK.

The contract marks VOS’s first long-term charter to provide ERRV services to the offshore wind sector. Under the agreement, VOS will provide emergency response, safety, and search and rescue support for personnel working at the two offshore wind farm construction sites.

The selected vessel, VOS Traveller, will operate from the Port of Lowestoft. The vessel will be supported by a 24-member crew working on a 28-day rotation.

As part of its operational role, VOS Traveller will provide continuous 24-hour standby and safety coverage at the offshore construction sites. Its search and rescue capabilities include providing a designated Place of Safety within 20 minutes and supporting personnel recovery during emergency situations.

The vessel is equipped with two fast rescue craft (FRCs), a Dacon scoop, and a heavy-duty rescue basket. It also features onboard medical treatment facilities, collision-avoidance surveillance systems, radio watchkeeping capabilities, offshore environmental monitoring, and field logistics support.

Built in Stellendam, the Netherlands, in 2008, VOS Traveller is a purpose-built Class B ERRV measuring 48.2 metres in length.

The East Anglia TWO and THREE offshore wind farms are being developed by ScottishPower Renewables off the Suffolk coast. The two projects are expected to collectively generate enough renewable electricity to power more than two million homes.

ScottishPower Renewables said the projects are expected to support thousands of jobs during their construction and operational phases and contribute to more than £3 billion of investment across the UK supply chain.

The agreement expands VOS’s involvement in the offshore renewable energy sector as the company provides specialist marine safety and emergency response services to support offshore wind construction activities.
