Waaree Group, India’s largest manufacturer of solar PV modules, has announced the groundbreaking ceremony of its Electrolyser Manufacturing Facility in Valsad, Gujarat. The event took place on February 10th, marking a major step in India’s clean energy transition. The facility will begin operations with an initial production capacity of 300 MW in Phase I and is expected to play a crucial role in the country’s green hydrogen sector.

As part of its strategic expansion, Waaree is setting up this advanced Alkaline Electrolyser manufacturing plant to support India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission. The facility will supply electrolyzers to key industries, including steel, refining, transportation, fertilizers, chemicals, food, and power generation. These industries will be able to adopt greener processes and reduce carbon emissions. By producing electrolyzers domestically, Waaree aims to reduce India’s dependence on imports and strengthen its position as a global hub for green hydrogen, green ammonia, and other e-fuels.

Anuj Sharma, CEO of Waaree Clean Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd., stated that the new facility represents a significant step toward making India self-reliant in green hydrogen production technologies. He emphasized Waaree’s commitment to leading the nation’s clean energy revolution by empowering industries, creating new jobs, and contributing to a sustainable future.

The facility will be equipped with the latest technology and manufacturing processes to produce high-efficiency, durable, and reliable electrolyzers for large-scale green hydrogen production. These electrolyzers are designed to consume less power and operate with flexibility while maintaining high performance and requiring minimal maintenance. The facility will also have automated assembly lines for electrolyzer stacks to ensure precision and scalability in production.

Waaree recently secured a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) for 300 MW electrolyzer manufacturing capacity and 90,000 metric tons per annum of green hydrogen production under the Government of India’s SIGHT (Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition) scheme. This recognition supports Waaree’s vision of strengthening India’s hydrogen supply chain.

With this new development, Waaree aims to contribute to India’s leadership in clean energy and green hydrogen. The company’s investment in electrolyzer manufacturing is expected to boost domestic production, reduce reliance on imports, and support industries in transitioning to sustainable energy solutions. This milestone reinforces India’s commitment to becoming a key player in the global green hydrogen economy.
