German energy and gases firm Westfalen Group is set to double the current industrial gas filling capacity at its Swiss site.
The company said it had broken ground at its Eiken facility, which fills gas cylinders to supply medium-sized businesses across the beverage, medical, pharmaceutical, welding and cutting industries.
While the site’s existing and expanded capacities are unclear, Westfalen said the expansion represented an investment of “tens of millions”.
Thomas Perkmann, CEO of the Westfalen Group, said the investment at Eiken will support the group’s local Swiss subsidiary growth and strengthen the company’s wider European distribution network.
The company also announced its French business is building a new filling facility in southwestern France.
Group-wide, Westfalen fills around 2.2 million cylinders each year and recorded sales of over €2.1bn ($1.8bn) across the 2024 financial year.
