Canadian manufacturer of ultra-low temperature cryogenic systems Zero Point Cryogenics (ZPC) will open the first in a planned network of international innovation and services hubs at the Illinois Quantum Microelectronics Park (IQMP) in Chicago.
ZPC says additional hubs are planned across the US, Europe, and Asia, while manufacturing will remain primarily in Alberta, Canada.
The company’s US site will provide installation, maintenance, and technical support for ZPC’s dilution refrigerators and patented phase separation refrigerator technology.
IQMP is a dedicated campus in the state of Illinois for quantum technology and microelectronics innovation and scale up.
ZPC’s systems are primarily used in quantum research, condensed matter physics, and materials science, where stable and repeatable low-temperature environments are essential.
Chris Cassin, CEO and co-founder of ZPC, said the US expansion will strengthen relationships with government, defence, and researchers.
“Those relationships will help accelerate the commercialisation of the cryogenic infrastructure required to move these technologies forward,” he added.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has prioritised investment in quantum computing and advanced manufacturing, committing $500m to the IQMP and a further $200m to the Chicago Quantum Exchange.
