Limes Renewable Energy, an international developer of renewable energy projects with a development pipeline of 6 GW, has completed the sale of a 287 MW portfolio of solar and wind energy projects in Italy. The portfolio was acquired by an international independent power producer (IPP) that already has a significant presence in the country. With this transaction, Limes has now surpassed 850 MW of renewable energy assets sold to institutional investors around the world.

The 287 MW portfolio is evenly split between photovoltaic and wind projects and includes 50 MWp of solar photovoltaic capacity that has already received the necessary authorizations. Limes will remain involved in the development of the remaining projects, supporting the buyer through the permitting and approval process until the projects reach the ready-to-build stage. Once fully operational, the combined capacity of the portfolio is expected to produce approximately 669 GWh of electricity annually. This output will contribute significantly to Italy’s renewable energy supply, supporting national and regional decarbonization goals.

Cristiano Spillati, Managing Director of Limes, said in a statement, “This transaction represents a strategic step for Limes, confirming our ability to identify opportunities and develop renewable energy projects of the highest quality on a large scale. The sale of this portfolio to an international IPP active in Italy demonstrates the solidity of our projects and our commitment to promoting the country’s energy transition. Thanks to our expertise in solar, wind and storage technologies (BESS), we will continue to develop excellent projects that promote sustainable growth. We are proud that Limes attracts top-tier international investors and is recognized as a reliable partner for the implementation of ready-to-build projects.”

This sale marks another milestone for Limes Renewable Energy, further establishing its reputation as a trusted developer of high-quality renewable energy assets. To date, the company has successfully advanced 17 projects, totaling 275 MW, to the ready-to-build stage. It also anticipates that an additional 100 to 150 MW will reach this phase within the next year. Limes continues to focus on delivering value to institutional investors while contributing to the global transition to clean energy.
