Podcast: The ‘whiplash’ from potential 45V hydrogen repeal

The next seven months will be pivotal to the future of US hydrogen as everyone waits to see whether the 45V hydrogen tax credit is repealed or modified following the recent approval of the US House Committee bill.

Mona Dajani, Partner and Global Co-Chair of Energy Infrastructure & Hydrogen, as well as Co-Chair of the Energy Sector, at global law firm Baker Botts, has digested the implications on the latest 1895 podcast.

The 45V tax credits were assigned to companies producing green hydrogen, under the Inflation Reduction Act that was approved by the last administration.

Dajani starts by emphasising how the credits were very important for jump-starting hydrogen in the US – meaning that now the outlook is altogether more uncertain.
