TotalEnergies Inaugurates Europe’s Largest Solar Power Cluster In Guillena, Spain, With 263 MW Capacity

TotalEnergies has officially inaugurated its largest solar power plant cluster in Europe, located near Sevilla in southern Spain. The new facility comprises five interconnected solar projects, collectively offering an installed capacity of 263 megawatts. This large-scale solar development is expected to generate approximately 515 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity annually, enough to meet the energy needs of over 150,000 households in Spain. Additionally, the project is set to reduce carbon emissions by around 245,000 tons per year, supporting Spain’s and Europe’s broader climate goals.

A significant portion of the electricity generated will be sold through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs), while the remainder will be available on the wholesale electricity market. Recognized as a project of strategic interest by the regional government, Junta de Andalucía, the development has also brought substantial economic benefits to the local area. The construction involved 14 companies more than half of them based in Seville and created around 800 direct and indirect jobs. The installation uses 400,000 bifacial solar panels equipped with trackers to enhance energy efficiency and output.

Olivier Jouny, Senior Vice President Renewables at TotalEnergies, “We warmly thank the Spanish authorities at both the regional and national levels for supporting this solar project that is contributing to Spain’s ambition of 80% of renewables in its mix by 2030. With our 1,700 employees in Spain, we are building a competitive Integrated Power portfolio that combines renewables and flexible gas-fired power plants to deliver clean firm power to our customers. We are proud to be the 4th largest provider of electricity, gas, and related services in Spain, where we have more than 2 million residential and professional customers”.

This milestone reflects TotalEnergies’ broader strategy of building a diversified and competitive energy portfolio. The company is combining renewable sources such as solar, onshore wind, and offshore wind with flexible energy assets like combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT) and storage systems to provide reliable clean power to its customers. As of the end of March 2025, TotalEnergies has reached 28 gigawatts of installed gross renewable capacity and is on track to achieve its target of 35 gigawatts by the end of 2025. Looking ahead, the company aims to produce more than 100 terawatt-hours of net electricity annually by 2030, reinforcing its role as a major player in the global energy transition.
