On August 4, 2025, a successful e-reverse auction was conducted for Project-XI, which focuses on the production and supply of green ammonia in India. The auction was organized by the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI) for Krishana Phoschem Limited, located in Meghnagar. The auction involved a significant quantity of 70,000 metric tonnes of green ammonia.

This auction was conducted under the SIGHT Scheme (Mode-2A-Tranche-I), which aims to boost the domestic production of green ammonia. The specific Request for Selection (RfS) for this project was listed as SECI/C&P/MI/00/0002/2024-25. The project was structured as a single-entity, fixed quantity auction, drawing notable interest from bidders.

The bidding process began with both the starting price and reserve price set at 74.30 Indian Rupees per kilogram. After a competitive round of bidding, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited emerged as the winner. They secured the contract with a rank-1 bid of 51.80 Indian Rupees per kilogram. This amount was also the loaded value, showing that it was the final and accepted price.

This outcome marks an important step in India’s efforts to expand its green energy initiatives and lower carbon emissions. The SIGHT Scheme, which supports such projects, is designed to promote the use of green ammonia in various sectors like industry and agriculture. Green ammonia is considered an important component in the clean energy landscape, and this project highlights how major companies are taking active roles in this transformation.

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited’s successful bid demonstrates a strong commitment to India’s clean energy targets. The use of the e-SecureAuction platform ensured the process was transparent and efficient. All participants had access to the final bids, which helped maintain fairness throughout the auction.

The large gap between the starting price and the final bid indicates a competitive environment and a focus on reducing costs in green ammonia production. This project and others under the SIGHT Scheme are expected to make a major contribution to India’s green energy future and help the country become a leader in the global green energy market.
