Grenergy Kicks Off Monte Águila Project In Chile’s Biobío Region: A 340 MW Solar + 960 MWh Storage Facility Advancing The Central Oasis Platform And Chile’s Renewable Future

Grenergy has officially broken ground on the Monte Águila plant in Chile’s Biobío region, marking another significant milestone in its long-term commitment to the country’s clean energy transition. The new facility, part of the company’s Central Oasis platform, will feature 340 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity paired with 960 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery storage. This development positions Biobío as a key clean energy hub while strengthening Chile’s leadership in renewable energy and storage innovation.

The groundbreaking ceremony was led by Felipe P., Managing Director for Latin America at Grenergy, and attended by several prominent public officials, including Minister of Finance Nicolás Grau Veloso, Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism Álvaro García Hurtado, Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Giorgio Boccardo Bosoni, Regional Presidential Delegate of Biobío Eduardo Pacheco, and Mayor of Cabrero Yusef Yusef Sabag Araneda, along with Carolina Parada Gavilán. The event also welcomed colleagues, partners, and members of the local community.

Building on the success of Oasis de Atacama in northern Chile, the Monte Águila project marks the next phase of Grenergy’s Central Oasis initiative — a hybrid platform that integrates large-scale solar power generation with advanced energy storage systems. This project underscores Grenergy’s dedication to driving sustainable growth and supporting Chile’s vision of becoming a regional leader in renewable energy.
