AMPYR Distributed Energy Powers Fylde Solar Development in Warton, Lancashire

AMPYR Distributed Energy, in partnership with EnerG Renewable Solutions, is advancing the Fylde Solar project at Browns Lane in Warton, a significant renewable energy initiative for Lancashire. The 10 MW solar development will feature 14,000 ground-mounted solar panels, supplying over 9.5 GWh of clean energy annually to decarbonise operations at the nearby BAE Systems manufacturing and assembly facility.

Approved in 2015, the project is expected to reduce local carbon emissions by 1.9 million kilograms per year, aligning with the region’s net-zero ambitions and setting new sustainability benchmarks.

As part of the next phase, high-voltage cables will connect the solar site to BAE Systems’ electrical network, necessitating temporary street works from 6 January to April 2025. To minimise community impact, Lancashire County Council and project planners have carefully mapped the least disruptive routes, avoiding traffic hotspots like Lytham Road’s main entrance to BAE Warton, Hillock Lane, and Harbour Lane.

While adhering to all necessary regulations, the street works may temporarily affect commutes. AMPYR apologises for the inconvenience and assures residents that efforts are underway to mitigate disruptions.

The Fylde Solar project represents a multi-million-pound commitment to cleaner, greener energy infrastructure, accelerating the region’s transition to renewable energy.
