The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) wrapped up its participation in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2025, hosted by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar). At the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2025, DEWA showcased its key renewable energy projects and highlighted its efforts in empowering women and youth in sustainability.

Among the DEWA representatives was Aysha AlRemeithi, Deputy Manager at DEWA and President of the DEWA Youth Council, who participated in panel discussions at the Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) Hub. She discussed the importance of empowering youth and equipping them with skills to drive change in the renewable energy and sustainability sectors.

DEWA also participated in the Women in Sustainability, Environment and Renewable Energy (WiSER) platform, where Senior Engineer Athbeh Al Shehhi discussed the authority’s circular economy strategy and its successful integration of sustainability practices across its operations.

During the exhibition, DEWA highlighted its flagship projects, such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park globally, which will have a capacity of 5,000 MW by 2030. DEWA also presented its Research and Development Centre at the solar park, which has published numerous papers and filed patent applications.

Other notable DEWA projects included the Sustainability and Innovation Centre, which fosters Dubai’s leadership in clean energy, and the Space-D programme, which enhances DEWA’s operational performance with nanosatellites. DEWA’s EV Green Charger initiative, which supports green mobility, and its Smart Grid program, recently awarded ‘Smart Grid Project of the Year – UAE,’ were also featured.

The DEWA stand at WFES attracted VIPs, including HE Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and HE Arthur Mattli, Ambassador of Switzerland to the UAE, who commended DEWA’s leadership in renewable energy and sustainability
