Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) is taking proactive steps to ensure a stable and uninterrupted electricity supply for the upcoming summer season in North Delhi. The utility, which serves nearly 9 million people, is preparing for a significant rise in electricity demand as peak load is expected to reach around 2622 MW in summer 2026, compared to 2410 MW in 2025.
To manage this anticipated surge, Tata Power-DDL has already secured power arrangements of up to 2900 MW. The company is focusing on strengthening its overall preparedness by coordinating closely with power generators, suppliers, and service providers. As part of these efforts, a workshop was recently held in New Delhi, where key stakeholders gathered to review plans and ensure readiness for the high-demand season.
The discussions during the meeting focused on improving coordination with power generation companies and ensuring the availability of critical equipment across the supply chain. Special attention was given to plant maintenance, especially for essential components like boilers, to avoid disruptions during peak summer months. The company also explored ways to enhance power availability and improve operational efficiency across its network.
Senior officials, including CEO Dwijadas Basak, participated in the meeting along with representatives from generation companies, Original Equipment Manufacturers, and other partner organizations. The collaboration aimed at strengthening both planning and execution strategies to handle increased electricity demand effectively.
In addition to power generation readiness, the discussions also addressed the management of the electricity distribution network. Measures to ensure faster restoration in case of faults and better handling of unforeseen disruptions were key topics. The company emphasized the importance of real-time coordination and quick response systems to maintain service reliability.
A spokesperson from Tata Power-DDL highlighted that continuous engagement with partners plays a vital role in maintaining a reliable power supply. The company is working to ensure that all necessary systems and resources are in place well before the peak summer period begins.
Tata Power-DDL also outlined its broader strategy, which includes strong power procurement planning, demand-side management, and enhanced network preparedness. The company is focusing on building resilience in its operations to handle extreme demand conditions without compromising service quality.
