Citicore Launches Pangasinan Solar Plant, Boosts Philippines Clean Energy Capacity

Citicore Renewable Energy Corp. has officially begun operations at its new solar power facility in Pangasinan, marking an important step in the country’s shift toward clean energy. The plant, located in San Manuel, was inaugurated with a switching-on ceremony, signaling the start of the first phase of a larger solar development project.

The initial phase of the project has a capacity of around 75 megawatts. This electricity will be supplied to the Luzon grid, helping meet rising energy demand in the region. By using solar energy, the facility will generate clean and renewable power, reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels and lowering carbon emissions. The plant is expected to support thousands of homes and businesses with a steady and reliable power supply.

Company officials stated that this is only the beginning of a bigger plan for the area. The solar site has been designed for expansion, with additional phases already being prepared. Once all stages are completed, the total capacity of the Pangasinan solar project will increase significantly, making it one of the largest solar installations in the province.

Apart from energy generation, the project is also creating a positive economic impact in the local community. During construction and now in operations, it has provided jobs to many local residents. This has helped boost local income and support livelihoods in the area.

A key feature of the project is the company’s “Agri-Solar” approach. In this system, solar panels are installed at a height that allows farming activities to continue underneath. Farmers can grow crops such as vegetables, while the land is also used for electricity generation. This dual-use model ensures that agricultural productivity is not affected and supports food security alongside clean energy production.

The project also supports the Philippine government’s goal of increasing the share of renewable energy in the national energy mix. As electricity demand continues to grow and climate concerns become more serious, such solar projects play a crucial role in building a sustainable energy future.

With this development, Citicore Renewable Energy Corp. is strengthening its position in the solar sector. The company has several projects planned across the country and aims to add more solar capacity in the coming years. The successful launch of the San Manuel solar facility shows that large-scale renewable energy projects can be developed quickly and can deliver both environmental and economic benefits.
