Vikran Engineering Secures INR 120.69 Crore POWERGRID Contract for 400 kV GIS Substation Package SS-147

Vikran Engineering Limited has secured a ₹120.69 crore contract from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) for the 400 kV GIS Substation Package SS-147, strengthening its order book and expanding its presence in India’s high-voltage transmission infrastructure segment.

The contract, awarded through a Domestic Competitive Bidding process, covers the design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, supply, erection and commissioning of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) equipment to augment transformation capacity at three POWERGRID substations located in Magarwada (Dadra & Nagar Haveli), Vadnagar (Gujarat) and Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh).

Under the project, Vikran Engineering will execute the construction of 400/220 kV GIS bays and associated works under two integrated contracts covering the supply of equipment and related services. The project aims to enhance transformation capacity at key transmission nodes to improve grid reliability, strengthen inter-regional power transmission and increase power evacuation capabilities across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.

Commenting on the development, Chairman and Managing Director Rakesh Markhedkar said the order reflects POWERGRID’s continued confidence in Vikran Engineering’s engineering expertise and project execution capabilities. He added that the contract further strengthens the company’s long-standing relationship with India’s central transmission utility and reinforces its position in the high-voltage GIS substation segment.

Markhedkar noted that increasing transformation capacity at critical transmission infrastructure is essential to ensuring grid stability and reliability as India’s electricity demand continues to grow. He said the company remains committed to delivering the project with quality, precision and timely execution while further expanding its presence in the transmission EPC sector.

The latest order adds to Vikran Engineering’s growing portfolio of transmission and substation projects across India, supporting the expansion of the country’s power transmission network and the development of reliable, resilient and future-ready electricity infrastructure.
