EDF Power Solutions Signs 25-Year PPAs with NV Energy for 400 MW Solar and 400 MW/1,600 MWh Storage Project

EDF power solutions North America has signed two 25-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with NV Energy covering the combined output of the Winston Energy Project, a planned 400 MWac solar power project paired with a 400 MW/1,600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).

The Winston Energy Project is being developed on private land in Lyon County, Nevada, and is expected to begin delivering electricity in October 2029.

The project will combine utility-scale solar generation with four hours of battery storage, providing renewable electricity along with energy storage capabilities to support NV Energy’s power supply requirements.

During the peak construction phase, the project is expected to employ more than 400 workers. Over its operating life, Winston Energy is projected to generate approximately $100 million in tax revenue for the local community.

EDF power solutions said the project is expected to generate approximately 1.11 million MWh of renewable electricity annually. This output is estimated to be sufficient to supply the equivalent of 100,000 homes in Nevada.

The company also estimates that the project will help avoid carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to the annual emissions from more than 187,000 passenger vehicles.

Jacqueline de Fresart, Associate Director of Origination and Power Marketing at EDF power solutions North America, said the company’s continued partnership with NV Energy will support the deployment of combined solar and storage solutions aimed at providing reliable and sustainable electricity while contributing to decarbonization.

EDF power solutions North America develops and operates renewable energy and energy storage projects across the region. The company has more than 35 years of experience and has developed 26 GW of wind, solar, and storage projects in North America.
