The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has announced a tender for the development of a 120 MW AC solar photovoltaic power project integrated with a battery energy storage system (BESS) in Bihar’s Aurangabad district. The project will include a 60 MW battery energy storage system with a storage capacity of 240 MWh, along with five years of operation and maintenance services.
The tender, identified by reference number SECI/C&P/OP/11/0008/26-27, covers the design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of the solar power project and associated battery storage infrastructure. The initiative aims to expand renewable energy generation capacity while supporting grid stability and improving the reliability of electricity supply in the region.
The integration of battery storage with solar generation is expected to help address the intermittent nature of solar power. The 240 MWh storage system will provide a mechanism to store electricity generated during periods of solar availability and discharge it when required, subject to the project’s operating arrangements. Such projects can support better utilization of renewable energy and contribute to meeting electricity demand during periods when solar generation is limited.
The tender also includes five years of operation and maintenance services, placing responsibility on the selected contractor to support the project’s operational performance during the specified period. The scope encompasses activities required to establish the facility and bring it into commercial operation.
SECI has indicated that the official bidding documents will be available in English through the electronic tender portal at . Tender-related information and notifications will also be accessible through the Government of India’s Central Public Procurement Portal at and the tender section of SECI’s official website.
Prospective bidders must register on the electronic tender portal and log in using their registered credentials to obtain the official tender documents. Downloading the documents through the authenticated portal is mandatory for participation. Only bidders who successfully obtain the official copy through this process will be eligible to submit their bids electronically.
Interested parties seeking additional information or assistance with the tender process can contact SECI by telephone at +011 24666 270.
The proposed project reflects continued efforts to combine large-scale solar generation with energy storage infrastructure. By integrating a 120 MW AC solar facility with a 60 MW/240 MWh battery system, the initiative could strengthen Bihar’s renewable energy infrastructure and support a more flexible and reliable power supply.
