ACEN Secures €50 Million Loan To Expand Renewable Energy Portfolio

ACEN Corp., the energy platform of the Ayala Group, has secured a €50 million term loan facility, equivalent to approximately P3.5 billion, from ING Bank, N.V., Manila Branch, to finance its renewable energy project pipeline and support general corporate requirements. The latest financing agreement strengthens the company’s funding position as it continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio across domestic and international markets.

According to a stock exchange disclosure, the term loan was executed through ACEN Investments, Inc., a subsidiary of ACEN Corp., with ING Bank’s Singapore Branch serving as the transaction agent. The new facility follows a similar €50 million loan extended by ING Bank to another ACEN subsidiary, ACEN International, Inc., in May last year. The latest agreement reflects the company’s continued efforts to secure funding for its expanding portfolio of clean energy projects.

ACEN currently has an attributable renewable energy capacity of 7.5 gigawatts (GW), including operational assets, projects under construction, and projects covered by signed agreements. Its renewable energy portfolio spans the Philippines, Australia, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Laos, and the United States, reflecting its presence across multiple international markets.

ACEN has also reported an improvement in its attributable net income, which reached P3.9 billion, compared with P763 million during the corresponding period last year. However, its statutory net debt increased to P168.4 billion, reflecting the financial requirements associated with ongoing investments in projects under construction.

Amid market uncertainties and increasing capital requirements, Francia highlighted the importance of maintaining financial discipline. The company is prioritising balance sheet protection, increasing contracted energy sales, and expanding its energy storage asset base. These measures are intended to support sustainable growth while managing financial risks associated with its development pipeline.

The latest loan facility is expected to provide additional financial flexibility as ACEN continues to advance its renewable energy projects. Access to financing remains important for the company as it balances capacity expansion with debt management and operational performance.
