NLC India Limited has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), has secured a 300 MW grid-connected wind power project in Gujarat after participating in a competitive bidding process conducted by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL).
The tender was floated by GUVNL for procuring power from 250 MW of grid-connected wind power projects under Phase XI, with a Greenshoe option allowing additional capacity of up to 250 MW. NIRL initially emerged as a successful bidder for 100 MW of wind power capacity.
Following the initial allocation, the company accepted the first Greenshoe option for an additional 100 MW and subsequently accepted another 100 MW under the additional Greenshoe capacity. With these allocations, NIRL’s total awarded capacity under the tender has increased to 300 MW.
The company has also received the Letter of Intent (LoI) from GUVNL for the development of the 300 MW wind power projects. The LoI marks an important step towards advancing the project and expanding NLC India’s renewable energy portfolio.
The latest development reflects NLC India’s continued efforts to strengthen its presence in the renewable energy sector through its dedicated subsidiary. The company is expanding its clean energy operations as India continues to increase renewable power capacity to meet its growing electricity demand and energy transition objectives.
The Gujarat wind power project will add to NIRL’s portfolio and support NLC India’s broader strategy of diversifying its energy business beyond conventional operations. By securing additional capacity through the Greenshoe options, the subsidiary has increased its participation in the state’s wind energy development programme.
The project further strengthens NLC India’s position in India’s renewable energy market and highlights the role of public sector companies in supporting the country’s clean energy expansion.
