Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power and a leader in India’s renewable energy sector, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to explore opportunities for developing renewable energy projects in the state. The MoU was signed in Amaravati, marking a key step in advancing the state’s renewable energy goals.

Through this strategic agreement, TPREL and the Government of Andhra Pradesh will jointly pursue renewable energy projects totaling up to 7,000 MW (7 GW), including solar, wind, and hybrid solutions with or without storage. The estimated investment for these projects is up to ₹49,000 crore, positioning it as one of the largest renewable energy investments in the state. This partnership supports the state’s vision of expanding its renewable energy capacity and driving the transition to a sustainable, green energy future.

In addition to contributing to Andhra Pradesh’s clean energy targets, the MoU will also stimulate the local economy, promote skill development, and create livelihoods, thereby contributing to the overall socio-economic growth of the state. The proposed projects will be developed under the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy, a landmark initiative aiming to achieve over 160 GW of renewable energy and attract ₹10 lakh crore in investments.Under the agreement, TPREL will carry out preliminary assessments, feasibility studies, and development activities to evaluate the viability of these projects. The New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) will provide essential support, including facilitation, site identification, and assistance with evacuation infrastructure. This initiative is poised to greatly increase Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy capacity and further reinforce TPREL’s commitment to advancing India’s clean energy goals.

Mr. Deepesh Nanda, CEO & Managing Director, TPREL, said, “We are delighted to partner with the Government of Andhra Pradesh in advancing the state’s clean energy journey.
