SUNation Energy, Inc., a leading provider of sustainable solar energy and backup power solutions, has announced that its Chief Operating Officer, James Brennan, will take on the additional role of Chief Financial Officer, effective March 5, 2025. With over 30 years of experience in finance, mergers and acquisitions, strategy, corporate development, sales, and marketing, Mr. Brennan has played a key role in shaping SUNation’s growth and operational success. His expanded responsibilities reflect the company’s commitment to strengthening its leadership team as it continues to evolve.

Mr. Brennan joined SUNation in 2015 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2022. Throughout his tenure, he has been a trusted advisor and a stabilizing force within the company. In addition to his leadership in the renewable energy sector, he has an extensive background in business development and management across various industries. Before joining SUNation, he held executive roles at a predictive analytics company, an M&A advisory firm, a mobile and wireless healthcare technology solutions company, and multiple clinical software and medical device firms.

Scott Maskin, Chief Executive Officer, said in a statement, “I am confident that Jim’s unique skill set will create a strategic alignment between our financial strategies and operational goals, all in support of the Company’s broader growth initiatives of rolling up regionally strong solar companies throughout the United States. Importantly, his knowledge of our business, people and processes will help ensure a seamless transition of responsibilities.”

“I have worked closely with Scott and our executive team for over a decade and appreciate their continued confidence. I am also grateful to be assuming this new role with the support of a strong team of financial professionals including Kristin Hlavka, Chief Accounting Officer, and Mitch Sommer, Corporate Controller. Working together, I am convinced in our ability to unlock the full potential of this amazing and well-respected organization. We appreciate Andy’s service to SUNation and wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” stated Mr. Maskin.

A seasoned entrepreneur and military veteran, Mr. Brennan has worked on international projects in Japan, Singapore, India, England, Germany, Austria, France, and Poland. He holds an MBA in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University. Mr. Brennan succeeds Andrew Childs, who stepped down as Interim Chief Financial Officer on March 3, 2025, to pursue other business opportunities. Mr. Childs had served in the role since September 2024, contributing to SUNation’s financial operations during a transitional period. With Mr. Brennan assuming the CFO role, SUNation aims to further strengthen its financial strategy and continue its mission of delivering reliable, sustainable energy solutions.
