Tanmiah Partners with Emerge to Develop 3 MWp Solar Plant, Advancing Saudi Arabia’s Clean Energy Goals

Tanmiah Food Company, a leading Middle Eastern supplier of fresh poultry, processed proteins, animal feed, health products, and a restaurant operator, has announced a new partnership with Emerge, a joint venture between Masdar and the EDF Group. The agreement was signed at the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture by Tanmiah’s Group CEO, Zulfiqar Hamadani, and Emerge’s General Manager, Michel Abi Saab.

As part of the partnership, Emerge will develop a 3 MWp solar power plant at Tanmiah’s Haradh facility, supporting Saudi Arabia’s clean energy goals. Emerge will handle financing, design, construction, and maintenance for 25 years. The plant will supply 35% of the facility’s electricity, cutting over 3,850 tonnes of CO₂ annually—equivalent to powering 800 households for a year.

Zulfiqar Hamadani, Group CEO of Tanmiah, stated that the partnership with Emerge is a key step toward a sustainable future. He emphasized that investing in renewable energy reduces Tanmiah’s carbon footprint and drives its broader sustainability goals, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 renewable energy targets.

Michel Abi Saab, General Manager of Emerge, highlighted that Saudi Arabia’s agriculture sector is progressing toward sustainable energy. He praised Tanmiah’s industry-leading sustainability goals and noted that powering its facility with solar will be vital in achieving them. He emphasized Emerge’s commitment to delivering turnkey solutions with no upfront costs, ensuring seamless installation for clients across the region.

Tanmiah is committed to sustainability, aiming to become the world’s leading halal sustainable healthy protein company by 2030. Its partnership with Emerge will play a key role in achieving this goal by integrating renewable energy into its operations.

The solar power agreement reflects Emerge’s mission to help the agricultural sector transition to clean energy with no upfront costs. This marks Emerge’s second project supporting agricultural decarbonization in the GCC.

Founded in 2021, Emerge specializes in distributed solar, battery storage, off-grid solar, and hybrid solutions for commercial and industrial clients, currently supplying clean energy to 38 sites across the region.
