AMPIN Energy Transition Commissions First 50 MWp Open Access Solar Plant In Chhattisgarh, Supplying Texmaco Rail And Leading Steel Manufacturer

AMPIN Energy Transition, one of India’s leading renewable energy companies, has successfully commissioned its first solar open access project in the Eastern region with the launch of a 50 MWp solar plant in Village Gatapar, Bemetara district of Chhattisgarh. The project supplies clean energy to Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd. as well as one of the largest steel manufacturers in the state, marking AMPIN’s debut in Chhattisgarh.

Completed in a record nine months, the project holds strategic significance for AMPIN as it expands the company’s renewable energy portfolio in Eastern India while also highlighting Chhattisgarh’s progressive Group Captive/Open Access (GEOA) policy and favourable business environment. These factors have made the state an attractive destination for renewable energy investment.

The 50 MWp plant is expected to generate about 78.21 million units of green electricity each year. This will help reduce nearly 64,132 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually—an impact comparable to planting around 3.05 million trees, removing 13,942 cars from the road, or powering nearly 65,175 households. Such benefits align strongly with India’s broader clean energy and sustainability goals.

Mr.Pinaki Bhattacharyya, Founder, MD & CEO, AMPIN Energy Transition, stated, “We are proud to commission our first open-access solar project in Chhattisgarh, a state with immense potential for renewable energy growth. This milestone underscores our commitment to advancing India’s sustainability goals while delivering substantial cost savings and dependable green power to our customers. AMPIN already has a strong foothold in the region with multiple operational projects in West Bengal and a solar manufacturing facility under construction in Odisha. With Chhattisgarh’s progressive GEOA policy and investor-friendly ecosystem, we are confident of accelerating our expansion and driving a greener future in Eastern India.”

Avijit Mitra, CEO (Steel Foundry Division), Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd, mentioned, “Our association with AMPIN Energy marks a significant step in our journey towards green manufacturing and operational excellence at our Raipur facility. By transitioning to renewable energy, we are not only reducing our dependence on conventional sources but also making measurable progress in lowering our carbon footprint. This partnership reflects Texmaco’s commitment to sustainable growth and responsible manufacturing. We look forward to a long and impactful collaboration with AMPIN in shaping a cleaner, greener future.”

For industrial customers, the project enables the replacement of more than 80% of conventional grid power with renewable energy, resulting in estimated energy cost savings of 30–40% compared to prevailing Discom tariffs. Beyond cost efficiency, the project ensures reliable and predictable power supply, supporting industries in their long-term sustainability strategies.

AMPIN is further strengthening its presence in Chhattisgarh with an additional 21 MWp project already under construction and another 100 MWp of renewable energy capacity under development. With a growing portfolio across solar, wind, hybrid solutions, and other energy transition enablers, AMPIN Energy Transition continues to establish itself as a trusted partner for commercial and industrial consumers across India, driving sustainable, affordable, and scalable clean energy solutions for the future.
