Independent gas and welding distributor American Welding & Gas (AWG) has expanded its Texas footprint with the acquisition of United Welding Supply, an independent industrial gas supplier serving customers across South Texas.
Headquartered in Freeport, United Welding Supply serves Edinburg and the surrounding South Texas region, strengthening AWG’s regional coverage and customer reach.
For AWG, the acquisition strengthens its ability to provide industrial, specialty, and medical gases, as well as welding equipment and related products across a broader Texas market.
Francisco Melendez Sr., founder and President of United Welding Supply, described the deal as a new chapter for the family-owned business.
“At its core, this is a family business, and finding a partner in AWG that shares our values made this decision an easy one,” he added.
The acquisition continues AWG’s investment in Texas and follows its , which expanded its presence across San Antonio, Taylor, and Pleasanton.
