In a significant stride towards sustainable energy, the Bihar government has launched two landmark policies and signed investment agreements worth ₹5,337 crore, aiming to generate 2,357 MW of renewable power. The announcement was made during a high-profile event held in Patna.

The new frameworks — the Bihar Renewable Energy Policy 2025 and the Pump Storage Policy 2025 — are designed to attract private investments, enhance energy infrastructure, and establish Bihar as a clean energy hub. State Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav emphasized that the initiative will help combat pollution, generate employment, and secure a sustainable future for upcoming generations.

Key agreements were signed with major energy players. L&T will develop a battery storage system in Lakhisarai, while NTPC Green is set to install a 1,000 MW battery energy storage project. The Avaada Group will undertake large-scale solar power initiatives, and SECI Ltd will support the development of floating solar projects in the state.

To drive investor interest, the policies include attractive incentives such as tax concessions, streamlined clearance procedures, and assistance in project implementation. Officials expressed confidence that these measures will enable Bihar to meet a significant portion of its energy demand through renewable sources by 2030.

Industry Minister Nitish Mishra urged investors to witness Bihar’s transformation firsthand, highlighting the state’s readiness to lead in clean energy development.
