FRV Teams Up With Envision To Develop H2 Cumbuco Green Hydrogen Project In Brazil Using 100% Renewable Energy

Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), a part of Jameel Energy, has announced a strategic partnership with Envision Energy to advance its green ammonia project, H2 Cumbuco, located at the Port of Pecém in Brazil. Envision Energy was selected as the strategic partner due to its expertise in developing fully renewable energy systems, including solar, wind, and green hydrogen, all integrated through advanced artificial intelligence technologies.

This collaboration marks a significant step in the development of the H2 Cumbuco project, which FRV has been actively working on since 2023. The project is already in an advanced stage, with progress made in engineering, environmental licensing, and the securing of critical resources such as land and water rights. The goal is to build a facility with up to 500 megawatts of electrolysis capacity, paired with an integrated ammonia plant. The plant is expected to become operational by 2030 and will supply green ammonia to markets in Brazil, Europe, and Asia.

FRV brings to the partnership its experience in renewable energy development, backed by 3 gigawatts of operational clean energy and storage assets worldwide. The company has a strong presence across Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and Latin America, and has been actively involved in renewable hydrogen projects, including two in Spain that have received public funding.

Envision Energy adds to this partnership its global experience in delivering large-scale, AI-enabled renewable energy projects. The company recently built the world’s largest off-grid green hydrogen and ammonia plant and launched its first green marine ammonia fueling operation in Dalian, China. These achievements highlight Envision’s capability to execute complex and scalable clean energy systems.

Henry Peng,Senior Vice President and President of Latin America and the European Region, stated, “This collaboration is more than a step toward decarbonization; it’s a model for how the global energy transition can be operationalized. Together with FRV, we are reshaping the entire renewable energy system and advancing Brazil’s sustainable energy infrastructure.”

Felipe Hernández, Chief Innovation Officer at FRV, mentioned, “At FRV, we firmly believe that the development of renewable hydrogen and its derivatives is a fundamental pillar in advancing global decarbonization. We see Brazil as a country with the potential to become a global leader in this sector, thanks to its strategic geographic position, strong commitment to the energy transition, and broad public support. We are excited about the potential that this alliance with Envision can bring to the H2 Cumbuco project, aiming to provide clean, competitive, and sustainable energy solutions, supporting Brazil’s economic and environmental development.”

The partnership aligns with Brazil’s national strategy to build a low-carbon economy, with a strong focus on the production and export of green hydrogen and ammonia. With Brazil set to host COP30, this initiative represents a significant contribution to the country’s renewable energy goals and its position in the global clean energy market.
