Geronimo Power (Geronimo) has announced the start of construction on its 150-megawatt (MW) Bee Hollow Solar Project in St. Clair County, Illinois, located within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) market. The project is set to deliver significant economic and environmental benefits to the local community through job creation, tax revenue, local spending, and charitable initiatives.

Bee Hollow Solar is expected to generate approximately $54 million in direct economic impact, including $17 million in new tax revenue for the county, township, and local school districts over its first 20 years of operation. In addition to these contributions, Geronimo will establish a dedicated charitable fund to further support community initiatives — a signature component of the company’s commitment to being a responsible and engaged local partner. “We are thrilled to begin construction on the Bee Hollow Solar project, bringing forth new jobs and tax revenue for the community and further demonstrating our commitment to bolstering economic growth in rural America,” said Nathan Franzen, Chief Project Delivery Officer at Geronimo. “These communities are the lifeblood of America’s Heartland and we’re proud to see projects like Bee Hollow make a real impact.”

Once operational in late 2026, the Bee Hollow project will produce enough clean, renewable energy to power approximately 45,600 homes annually. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) greenhouse gas equivalency calculator, the project will help offset around 219,100 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) each year — equivalent to removing approximately 51,100 cars from the road annually.
