Green Energy Stocks Shine As Indian Markets Close Higher Amid Mixed Sector Performance (17 June 2026)

Professionals analyze India’s green energy stock market with rising trends and renewable energy focus.

Indian equity markets ended on a positive note on June 17, 2026, with benchmark indices posting moderate gains amid mixed sectoral performances. The S&P BSE Sensex rose 0.45% to close at 77,155.62 points, while the NIFTY 50 gained 0.41% to settle at 24,088.05 points. The positive sentiment in the broader market also influenced trading activity in the green energy and mobility sectors, where investors witnessed a combination of strong rallies and selective profit booking.

Among renewable energy and electric mobility stocks, Olectra Greentech emerged as the top performer of the day. The company’s shares surged 6.49% on the BSE to close at Rs 1,353.80 and climbed 6.93% on the NSE to Rs 1,358.50. Borosil Renewables also recorded impressive gains, rising 4.74% on the BSE and 5.22% on the NSE. Amara Raja Energy & Mobility continued its positive momentum, posting gains of around 2% across both exchanges. Other notable gainers included JSW Energy and Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy, which advanced between 1.5% and 2%.

Large-cap energy and infrastructure companies delivered relatively stable performances. Reliance Industries registered a modest gain of around 0.35%, ending the session near Rs 1,332.55. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) also moved higher, gaining approximately 0.50% and closing above Rs 4,206. Public sector oil and gas company Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) recorded marginal gains of around 0.25%. However, GAIL witnessed some selling pressure and declined by more than 0.60%, ending the day near Rs 175. Indian Energy Exchange and Websol Energy remained largely stable, posting either flat or marginal gains.

On the downside, several renewable energy stocks ended the session in the red. NTPC Green Energy declined by more than 1.20%, with its share price falling to Rs 97.00 on the BSE. Adani Green Energy also came under pressure, losing nearly 1.25% on the NSE. Tata Power witnessed a slight decline of around 0.20%, while Insolation Energy and Praj Industries slipped by 0.72% and 0.34%, respectively. Exide Industries remained almost unchanged, ending the trading session with negligible losses.

Overall, the day reflected a healthy market environment where investor interest remained strong in select green energy and mobility stocks, even as some renewable energy counters experienced mild corrections.
