Green Energy Stocks Slide As Sensex Falls Amid Broad-Based Market Selling (15 September 2026)

Indian stock markets came under strong selling pressure on September 15, 2026, with benchmark indices ending sharply lower amid weak sentiment across sectors. The S&P BSE Sensex declined 1.04% to close at 74,003.82, while the Nifty 50 fell 0.96% to finish at 23,172.35. The broader weakness was also reflected in green energy, renewable power, battery and electric mobility stocks.

Most listed companies linked to the clean energy ecosystem ended the session in negative territory. Selling pressure was visible across solar manufacturers, renewable energy developers, equipment suppliers and battery companies.

Kabra Extrusion was the biggest decliner among the tracked green energy stocks, falling 10.00% to around Rs 650.85 on the NSE and hitting its lower circuit. Solar and glass manufacturers also witnessed significant selling. Borosil Renewables declined 6.08% to Rs 465.50, while Insolation Energy dropped 6.53% to Rs 86.91. Websol Energy fell 4.27% to close at Rs 72.60.

Renewable power and infrastructure companies also recorded notable losses. JSW Energy declined 4.06% to Rs 505.10, while Inox Wind fell 3.45% to Rs 73.86. Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy ended 3.26% lower at Rs 174.35.

Among major companies supporting India’s energy transition, Adani Green Energy declined 2.29% to Rs 1,252.00. Reliance Industries fell 1.47% to Rs 1,239.00, while Larsen & Toubro dropped 2.26% to Rs 3,841.80. NTPC Green Energy declined 1.25% to Rs 85.85. Tata Power remained comparatively resilient, with its shares slipping only 0.32% to Rs 363.50.

The electric mobility and battery segment also remained under pressure. Olectra Greentech declined 2.47% to Rs 1,179.60. Battery manufacturers Amara Raja Energy & Mobility and Exide Industries fell 1.77% and 1.07%, respectively.

Despite the broad market decline, a few stocks managed to move higher. EKI Energy Services gained 0.5%, while Juniper Green Energy stood out with a 2.43% rise on the NSE, closing at Rs 265.35.

The session highlighted continued volatility across India’s green energy and mobility stocks, with investors maintaining a cautious approach amid the broader market downturn.
