Hinduja Renewables Appoints Deepak Thakur As Managing Director & CEO From October 1, 2025, Bringing 30+ Years Of Renewable Energy, Infrastructure, And Industrial Expertise

Hinduja Renewables Energy Private Limited, part of the Hinduja Group, has appointed Deepak Thakur as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective from October 1, 2025. He takes over from Sumit Pandey, who has stepped down from the role after making significant contributions to the company. Deepak Thakur brings over three decades of diverse experience across renewable energy, infrastructure, industrial products, and electronics. Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions at prominent organizations such as the Mahindra Group, Reliance, Sterling & Wilson, L&T, Honeywell, and Thermax.

His expertise spans the entire renewable energy value chain, including solar, wind, storage, and hybrid systems, covering project development, engineering, procurement and construction, operations and maintenance, upstream technology, manufacturing, and asset monetization through InvITs. Shom Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Renewables, said that Deepak’s extensive experience and leadership would be instrumental as the company works to strengthen its position in the renewable energy sector. He also expressed gratitude to Sumit Pandey for his foundational role in building Hinduja Renewables.

Deepak Thakur expressed his excitement about joining the Hinduja Group, noting that the company’s strong commitment to renewable energy aligns with India’s energy transition goals. He highlighted his eagerness to contribute to the company’s growth and impact in the sector. A committed advocate for clean energy and sustainability, Deepak was involved in shaping India’s National Solar Thermal Policy in 2009, helping lay the groundwork for the country’s clean energy roadmap. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pune and an MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management.
