Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured major engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) orders in India and the Middle East for strengthening power transmission infrastructure. The orders fall under the company’s Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) vertical and are classified as “Major,” indicating a value between ₹5,000 crore and ₹10,000 crore.

In India, L&T has received an order to design, supply, and construct two 220 kV Gas Insulated Substations in the Durgapur–Raniganj–Asansol industrial belt in West Bengal. The project scope also includes associated transmission line segments equipped with advanced conductors and multi-circuit towers. These developments are part of grid modernisation efforts aimed at improving voltage stability and enhancing the overall reliability of the region’s power network. The upgraded infrastructure is expected to support growing industrial and infrastructure activities in the belt, which is a key economic zone in the state.

Apart from its domestic wins, L&T has also secured significant contracts in the Middle East. The company has received turnkey orders from key utilities in three different countries in the region. The projects involve the construction of five substations and more than 250 kilometres of transmission lines. These transmission systems will operate at voltage levels reaching up to 500 kV, reflecting the high-capacity requirements of the region’s expanding power networks.

In one of the Middle East projects, L&T’s scope includes the supply and installation of a 400 kV underground cable system. Such high-voltage underground cable systems are typically deployed in urban or environmentally sensitive areas where overhead lines may not be feasible. The projects are expected to strengthen cross-regional power flows and ensure a reliable electricity supply amid rising demand and evolving energy mixes.

The company stated that increasing electricity demand, changing generation patterns, and energy security priorities have made grid investments a high-technology and strategic focus area for leading economies. Modern transmission infrastructure is essential to integrate renewable energy, manage load growth, and maintain grid stability.

L&T said these orders demonstrate continued customer trust in its capability to deliver safe, sustainable and timely grid infrastructure solutions. Larsen & Toubro is a USD 30 billion Indian multinational engaged in EPC projects, high-tech manufacturing and services across multiple geographies. With a strong customer-focused approach and emphasis on quality, the company has maintained leadership in its key business segments for over eight decades.
