Nautilus Solar Expands Maine Community Solar To 160 MW With 15 New Projects Now Operational

Nautilus Solar Energy®, one of the largest community solar providers in the U.S., announced a major milestone in Maine with 15 new community solar projects becoming operational in 2024. These projects added 78 MW of capacity, bringing Nautilus Solar’s total operational capacity in the state to 160 MW. With these additions, the company now runs 28 community solar projects across Maine, supplying clean energy to over 13,700 subscribers, including more than 285 businesses and industrial customers. By helping residents and businesses save on energy costs, Nautilus Solar is supporting a more sustainable future for local communities.

Nautilus is a full-service solar provider that handles every step of its projects, from financing and development to construction, maintenance, and subscriber management. This ensures long-term success and sustainability. One of Nautilus’s latest projects is a 7 MW community solar farm in Sanford, Maine. It was built on a former industrial site that once housed a circuit board recycling facility.

Now transformed into a renewable energy source, the project shows how previously contaminated land can be repurposed for sustainable use. Located on a mix of city-owned land and Maine Turnpike Authority property, the fully operational solar farm now delivers clean energy to over 960 subscribers, contributing to local economic growth and environmental sustainability.
