NTPC Limited and the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) have partnered to develop a solar project in Sampoor, Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, through their joint venture, Trincomalee Power Company Limited (TPCL). This 50 MW solar plant, expandable to 120 MW, has reached a significant milestone with the finalization of its tariff after discussions with various stakeholders in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka’s President, Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayake, recently announced that the approved tariff for the Sampoor Solar Project is set at 5.97 US cents per unit.

This project is a key step in diversifying Sri Lanka’s energy mix, boosting clean energy capacity, and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. The agreed tariff ensures long-term energy security and supports Sri Lanka’s renewable energy targets. As a flagship renewable energy initiative, the Sampoor Solar Project highlights the country’s commitment to a greener future. NTPC Limited continues to expand its global footprint in renewable energy, focusing on solar, wind, and hybrid projects. The Sampoor project aligns with NTPC’s vision of becoming a leading global power company and its mission to promote sustainable energy solutions worldwide.
