The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a premier Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, has been conferred with the prestigious Golden Peacock Award for Development of Innovative Product/Service in the Renewable Energy category. The award was announced as part of the Golden Peacock Awards 2025, organized by the Institute of Directors, India.
SECI earned this accolade for its 100 MW (AC) Solar PV Project integrated with a 40 MW/120 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh—a project that ranks among India’s largest solar-plus-storage initiatives. This World Bank-supported venture highlights India’s commitment to innovative and sustainable energy solutions, where M/s TATA Power serves as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor.
The award ceremony was held in Dubai, UAE on April 22, 2025, in the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Abdulla Ahmed Saleh, Under Secretary, Ministry of Economy of the UAE; H.E. Sunjay Sudhir, India’s Ambassador to the UAE; Hon’ble Justice Uday U. Lalit, Former Chief Justice of India; and Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Vice-Chairman of the Institute of Directors and Judicial Member, Lokpal of India. Representing SECI, Shri Shreedhar Singh, Additional General Manager (Projects), and Shri Ankit Agarwal, Deputy General Manager (Projects), received the award.
This recognition underscores SECI’s pivotal role in advancing cutting-edge solar technologies and integrating energy storage systems that enhance grid reliability and support India’s broader clean energy transition goals. With initiatives like the Rajnandgaon project, SECI continues to lead India’s renewable energy mission toward a more resilient and sustainable future
