Waaree Energies Expands To 20.17 GW Manufacturing Strength As MNRE Approves 16.444 GW From Chikhli Facility

Waaree Energies Limited has strengthened its position as a leading player in India’s solar manufacturing sector with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) releasing its updated Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). The new listing reflects a significant expansion in the company’s approved capacity. According to the latest MNRE notification, Waaree’s manufacturing plant in Chikhli, Gujarat, has been listed with an ALMM-approved capacity of 16.444 GW. When combined with the capacity of Indosolar, this brings Waaree’s total solar module manufacturing capacity in India to 20.17 GW.

This development marks an important step in the company’s efforts to scale up domestic production to meet growing demand for high-quality solar modules. The revised ALMM list also features several new high-efficiency module models manufactured at the SG Chikhli facility. These include G12R TOPCon, G12 TOPCon, and G12 HJT modules. By adding these advanced products, Waaree has expanded its portfolio across next-generation cell technologies, strengthening its offerings for utility-scale projects, commercial and industrial users, and residential rooftop installations across the country.

Commenting on the announcement, Sunil Rathi, Executive Director at Waaree Group, noted that the expanded listing is an important milestone in the company’s growth. He explained that crossing 20 GW of domestic manufacturing capacity demonstrates Waaree’s long-term dedication to enhancing India’s solar production capabilities, raising efficiency standards, and supporting the nation’s clean energy ambitions. The addition of advanced TOPCon and HJT modules, he said, helps Waaree meet evolving project needs while offering greater supply chain confidence to developers and policymakers.

This update comes at a crucial time, as India accelerates solar deployment to achieve its target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. With solar installations increasing rapidly, domestic manufacturing is becoming essential for energy security, price stability, and quality assurance. Waaree Energies continues to invest in modern cell technologies, automation, and backward integration. The company remains focused on producing high-performance, ALMM-compliant solar modules that support India’s renewable energy expansion and long-term sustainability goals.
