Within 30 Days! Sineng Electric Powers Qinghai 700MW PV Project to Full Grid Connection

Sineng Electric has successfully supported the full-capacity grid connection of the first 700MW phase of the LongfaGonghe 1GWsolar project in Qinghai Province, completing equipment delivery within just 30 days. The project is now fully operational, contributing significant renewable energy capacity to Northwest China’s integrated energy development strategy.

Engineered for High-Altitude Reliability

To address the region’s harsh environmental conditions—including strong winds, frequent sandstorms, intense UV exposure, extreme temperature variations, and thin air—Sineng deployed its 320kW string inverters tailored for high-altitude applications.

The inverters feature IP66 protection and an intelligent reverse fan function to mitigate dust accumulation in sandy environments. Considering reduced air density at high elevations can impair heat dissipation, the product design incorporates enhanced thermal margins and optimized insulation performance, ensuring stable, non-derated operation even at altitudes of up to 4,000 meters.

Grid performance was another key priority. The inverters provide advanced grid-support capabilities, including continuous fault ride-through, power quality control, strong adaptability to weak grid conditions, and fast reactive power and frequency response. In addition, the products comply with Qinghai–Henan UHV DC transmission requirements, enabling reliable integration into ultra-high-voltage transmission systems.

Accelerated Delivery Under Extreme Conditions

Despite logistical and construction challenges posed by high altitude, low oxygen levels, frozen soil, and wide temperature swings, Sineng completed the entire equipment supply for the 700MW phase within one month. The accelerated delivery schedule allowed additional time for on-site installation and commissioning, helping ensure the project’s timely grid connection.

Integrating Renewable Energy with Ecological Restoration

Beyond power generation, the project adopts an integrated development model that combines solar deployment with ecological restoration and local economic empowerment. Vegetation adapted to plateau conditions is planted beneath the PV arrays to help stabilize the soil and support environmental recovery. At the same time, initiatives such as land leasing and integrated solar-agriculture practices create sustainable income opportunities for local communities, supporting both environmental and economic development.

As a flagship clean energy initiative in Qinghai’s effort to build a national renewable energy hub, the project demonstrates how large-scale solar can simultaneously advance grid modernization, environmental restoration, and regional economic development. Sineng Electric will continue leveraging advanced technology and reliable solutions to support complex renewable energy applications worldwide and contribute to global decarbonization goals.
