Sungrow’s Tauhei Solar Farm to Deliver 280 GWh of Clean Energy Annually

Sungrow, the global leader in PV inverter and energy storage system solutions, has announced its participation in New Zealand’s largest solar project, the Tauhei Solar Farm, located near Te Aroha on the North Island. Sungrow will supply and commission its industry-leading inverter technology for the 202 MWp (150 MW AC) project, marking a major milestone in the country’s clean energy transition.

Developed through a joint venture between Harmony Energy and Clarus, the Tauhei Solar Farm is scheduled to begin operations by late 2026. Once completed, the project will generate an estimated 280 GWh of renewable electricity annually, enough to power more than 35,000 homes and contribute significantly to New Zealand’s decarbonization goals.

Sungrow will provide 27 units of its SG6800HV-MV central inverters and one PPC1000 Power Plant Controller for the project. The SG6800HV-MV delivers up to 99% efficiency and is designed for reliable full-power operation even in high temperatures, thanks to its advanced cooling systems. Its integrated current and voltage monitoring allow real-time performance analysis and remote troubleshooting, ensuring smooth operation and maximum uptime.

“We are honoured to contribute to this landmark project that demonstrates the power of innovation and collaboration in driving a cleaner energy future for New Zealand. Sungrow is committed to delivering high-performance, innovative renewable energy that supports a reliable and sustainable national grid” said Joe Zhou, Country Manager of Sungrow Australia
