Ascent Solar Technologies, a leading U.S. innovator in lightweight, flexible thin-film photovoltaic (PV) solutions, has announced a teaming agreement with CisLunar Industries, a company specializing in advanced hardware and embedded control software for power conversion and conditioning. The collaboration between these two Colorado-based companies aims to combine their respective technologies to strengthen their competitiveness and expand opportunities in upcoming space missions with major U.S. organizations such as NASA, the Department of Defense, the U.S. Space Force, and other national security space programs.

Under this agreement, Ascent’s thin-film PV technology will be integrated with CisLunar’s high-efficiency power conversion systems to create durable and energy-efficient power solutions capable of supporting longer mission durations in space. The combined technology is designed to provide reliable, lightweight, and long-lasting power sources that can withstand the harsh conditions of space, thereby extending the operational life of spacecraft and other orbital platforms. This partnership comes at a critical time as U.S. space agencies and defense organizations actively seek advanced, ready-to-deploy energy solutions that enhance both mission endurance and system efficiency.

Paul Warley, CEO of Ascent Solar Technologies, emphasized the strategic importance of the collaboration, stating that national space programs require dependable and resilient power systems capable of enduring the extreme environmental and operational challenges of space, as well as emerging security threats. He noted that the synergy between Ascent’s solar technology and CisLunar’s power conversion expertise will provide distributed power systems that improve spacecraft performance and extend mission longevity.

Gary Calnan, CEO of CisLunar Industries, highlighted that the partnership leverages the strengths of both companies—their technological innovation, domain expertise, and production capacity—to deliver advanced power solutions to a rapidly growing space market. He added that the agreement enables both organizations to expand their range of offerings for commercial, civil, and defense customers while maintaining a focus on energy efficiency, system reliability, and timely delivery.

This collaboration underscores a shared vision between Ascent and CisLunar to drive innovation in the U.S. space technology ecosystem. By integrating flexible solar generation with cutting-edge power conditioning, the partnership aims to set new benchmarks in space power system performance and reliability—ultimately supporting the next generation of long-duration space missions.
