Digital Edge has announced a major step in its sustainability journey in India by signing a renewable energy Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Hexa Climate Solutions Pvt Ltd. The agreement will supply up to 83MW of solar power to support the first phase of its 350 MW AI-ready hyperscale BOM campus, which is currently being developed in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.

The 83 MW renewable capacity is expected to offset around 100,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year. This reduction is likely to grow further as Digital Edge India rolls out its full renewable energy program at the campus. The power supply will begin in phases from December 2026. The company said this is the maximum renewable capacity allowed under current regulations for the initial stage of development. To strengthen its long-term commitment, Digital Edge India will also take a significant minority equity stake in the linked renewable energy projects, which will give it captive user status.

The BOM campus is the first project under a joint venture between Digital Edge, the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund, and AGP Sustainable Assets. The partnership was formed to support India’s fast-growing digital infrastructure and transformation goals.

Along with renewable energy adoption, Digital Edge India has introduced an industry-first recycled water initiative. The company has partnered with customers and the local community to deploy advanced liquid cooling systems powered by 10 million litres of recycled water per day. This greywater solution is expected to improve water efficiency and reduce dependence on fresh water resources. The BOM campus is targeting an annualized Power Utilization Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.25 and a Water Utilization Effectiveness (WUE) below 1.75, making it one of the most energy- and water-efficient data centers in the country.

The recycled water program will also support the local community by creating a new revenue source. The grey water purchased by the company would otherwise have been discharged into the ocean by municipal authorities.

John Freeman, Group CEO of Digital Edge, said the initiatives show what can be achieved when companies work closely with customers and local stakeholders to build sustainable digital infrastructure. Vinod Giri of the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund added that the partnership reflects the importance of combining world-class digital infrastructure with responsible development. Sanjeev Aggarwal, Founder and Chairman of Hexa Climate Solutions, said the 83MW PPA sets a benchmark for green infrastructure as India’s digital economy continues to expand.
