NTPC Limited has achieved an important milestone in its renewable energy journey with the addition of new solar capacity in Gujarat. According to a regulatory filing dated March 19, 2026, the company has started commercial operations for a 165 MW segment of its 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project.

This newly operational capacity is the fourth part of the larger Khavda-II project and officially began operations at midnight on March 19, 2026. The project is being developed through NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, which operates under NTPC’s green energy arm, NTPC Green Energy Limited.

The Khavda region in Gujarat is emerging as one of India’s most important renewable energy hubs. With large-scale solar installations being developed in the area, it is playing a key role in supporting the country’s clean energy transition and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

With the addition of this 165 MW solar capacity, NTPC has further strengthened its overall power generation portfolio. The total installed capacity of the NTPC group has now reached 88,709 MW, while its commercial capacity stands at 87,629 MW. This reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to expand its renewable energy footprint and align with India’s sustainability goals.

The development is also significant for NTPC Green Energy Limited. After this addition, the group’s total installed capacity has increased to 9,727.68 MW, and its commercial capacity has reached 9,562.68 MW. This steady growth shows the company’s focus on scaling up clean energy projects and contributing to a greener power mix in the country.

Overall, this milestone highlights NTPC’s continued commitment to renewable energy expansion and its role in supporting India’s transition toward a more sustainable energy future.
