The Ministry of Power has released the draft National Electricity Data Sharing Framework 2026 to establish a transparent and standardized approach to power sector data management. The framework aims to improve data accessibility, interoperability, and governance while enabling better planning, policymaking, and digital transformation across India’s electricity ecosystem.


The Ministry of Steel and MNRE have invited bids for pilot projects using green hydrogen in India’s steel sector. The initiative seeks to demonstrate low-carbon steel production technologies, reduce industrial emissions, and accelerate hydrogen adoption as part of India’s broader clean energy and decarbonization strategy.


Kerala is accelerating the deployment of 750 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects to strengthen grid stability and improve renewable energy integration. The initiative will enhance grid flexibility, support peak demand management, and ensure reliable power supply as renewable generation continues to expand across the state.


The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has published a comprehensive roadmap highlighting the role of advanced battery energy storage systems in integrating renewable energy into India’s power grid. The report outlines strategies to improve grid reliability, operational flexibility, and long-term energy security through expanded storage deployment.


Madhya Pradesh has strengthened its clean energy ambitions with plans for 950 MW of solar parks alongside a 440 MW energy storage project. The combined development is expected to boost renewable energy capacity, enhance grid reliability, and support the state’s transition toward a more sustainable electricity system.


MUL has approached the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) seeking approval to revise its FY25 Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) target. The petition highlights regulatory considerations surrounding renewable energy compliance and reflects the evolving dynamics of renewable procurement within the state.


The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) has approved short-term power procurement while directing KSEBL to improve procurement transparency and accelerate battery energy storage projects. The order is intended to strengthen grid management, improve operational efficiency, and support future renewable energy integration.


Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has challenged fuel cost claims submitted by PPGCL before the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC). The utility has sought a refund of alleged excess energy charges, highlighting ongoing regulatory scrutiny over power procurement costs and tariff settlements.


The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has overturned the insolvency admission order against Vikram Solar, providing significant legal relief to the company. The ruling marks an important development for one of India’s leading solar manufacturers and reinforces confidence in the country’s renewable energy industry.
