Dean Moor Solar Farm Secures Development Consent for 150 MW Solar Project in Cumbria

Dean Moor Solar Farm has secured a Development Consent Order (DCO) from the UK Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, clearing the way for the development of a 150 MW solar farm between Gilgarran and Branthwaite in Cumbria.

The project is being developed by FVS Dean Moor Ltd, a joint venture between Firma Energy Ltd and ib vogt UK Ltd.

Once operational, the solar farm is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to power approximately 50,000 homes annually, contributing to regional energy security and supporting the UK’s net-zero ambitions.

The approval follows completion of the Development Consent Order process, which included statutory consultations, community engagement and an examination by the Planning Inspectorate.

Commenting on the approval, Daniel Kiremidjian, Director of UK and Nordics at ib vogt, said:

“We are delighted that development consent has been granted for Dean Moor Solar Farm. This is a significant milestone for ib vogt in the UK — and notably, the first project within our UK portfolio to achieve a Development Consent Order from the Planning Inspectorate. It reflects the dedication of our team and partners, as well as the constructive engagement with local communities and stakeholders throughout the process. Dean Moor will make a meaningful contribution to the UK’s clean energy transition, and we look forward to progressing to the next phase of delivery.”

The development consent marks a key milestone for the project, enabling it to move into the next phase of delivery as the developers advance plans to expand renewable energy capacity and strengthen the UK’s clean energy infrastructure.
