Midwest Energy Commences Commercial Production at 1.2 GWh BESS Manufacturing Facility in Bengaluru

Midwest Energy, the technology and clean energy arm of the Midwest Business House, has commenced commercial production at its 1.2 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in Bengaluru.

The facility features integrated Cell-to-Container manufacturing capabilities, enabling the production of battery modules, trays, racks and fully integrated containerised battery energy storage systems. The products are designed to serve commercial, industrial, renewable energy and utility-scale applications.

According to the company, the commissioning of the plant marks a significant milestone in expanding its energy storage manufacturing capabilities amid growing demand for battery storage solutions. The facility has an annual manufacturing capacity of 1.2 GWh and supports a wide range of storage capacities from 3 kWh to 6 MWh across voltage levels of 48V to 1500V.

The manufacturing unit is equipped with advanced quality assurance systems, end-of-line testing and product traceability. Midwest Energy said its battery energy storage solutions are aligned with UL 1973, UL 9540 and UL 9540A standards and can be customised to meet diverse customer requirements.

Commenting on the development, Soumya K, Chief Executive Officer of Midwest Energy Limited, said the facility strengthens the company’s indigenous capabilities to design, manufacture and deploy advanced battery energy storage systems in India. He added that the company aims to support the country’s clean energy transition by delivering reliable energy storage solutions that facilitate renewable energy integration, improve grid stability and enhance energy resilience.

Midwest Energy will focus on supplying advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems across domestic and international markets while expanding its portfolio of customised energy storage solutions for diverse customer requirements. The facility has been designed to support scalable manufacturing, high product reliability and globally benchmarked quality standards, in line with its stated objectives.
