South Africa’s Largest Rooftop Solar Project Powered by Jinko Solar Sets New Benchmark in Industrial Sustainability

Jinko Solar, the global leading PV and ESS supplier, proudly announces its role as the supplier of high-performance N-Type solar modules for South Africa’s largest rooftop solar installation at Mercedes-Benz South Africa’s manufacturing plant in East London. This landmark project, delivered by Bright Black Energy through Jinko Solar’s trusted distribution partner Menlo Electric South Africa, marks a significant milestone in the country’s renewable energy landscape.

The rooftop solar installation, now officially the largest rooftop solar project in South Africa, demonstrates a strong commitment to industrial sustainability and clean energy innovation. With a total installed capacity of 14.57 MWp for phase two, the project features over 21,000 N-Type Jinko Solar panels(JKM575N-72HL4-V), recognized globally for their superior efficiency and reliability.

Mercedes-Benz South Africa has invested over R100 million in this groundbreaking initiative, which was delivered on time, within budget, and has already surpassed performance expectations. The project represents a bold step forward in the journey toward carbon-neutral manufacturing and supports South Africa’s broader goals for a greener and cleaner energy future.

“At Jinko Solar, we are proud to power projects that push the boundaries of what’s possible,” said Milicent Chidamba, Sales Deputy Director-SADC Region at Jinko Solar. “This installation at Mercedes-Benz South Africa not only showcases the power of advanced solar technology but also exemplifies the meaningful impact of collaboration between industry leaders and renewable energy innovators.”

BrightBlack Energy’s expert delivery of the project underscores the growing capabilities within South Africa’s renewable sector, and Menlo Electric’s distribution excellence ensures seamless access to world-class solar technology.

As the nation moves towards a sustainable energy future, projects like this one are key to reducing carbon footprints and fostering energy independence.
