Tracer World Invites Global Investment For 200 MW Mumbwa Solar PV + 180 MWh BESS Project In Zambia

Tracer World Pvt Ltd has invited qualified global investors and strategic partners to participate in a renewable energy investment opportunity in Zambia’s Central Province. The proposed project, known as the Mumbwa Solar PV + BESS project, will combine 200 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation capacity with a 180 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).

The project is supported by a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), providing long-term contracted electricity offtake. The project is also structured around US-dollar invoicing, with an initial tariff of US$0.083 per kWh and an annual tariff indexation of 1%.

According to the project details shared by Tracer World, the development is expected to generate approximately 488.7 GWh of electricity annually. Based on the proposed tariff, the project could achieve an indicative gross sales figure of around US$40.6 million during its first year of operation.

The reference base capital expenditure for the project has been estimated at US$196.8 million. However, the final funding requirement could change depending on updated costs associated with the battery energy storage system, grid infrastructure, financing, and other project components.

Tracer World is seeking participation from international financial and strategic partners through several investment and financing routes. These include debt providers, equity investors, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), Export Credit Agencies (ECAs), EPC plus financing (EPC+F) providers, and strategic co-investors.

The company said the project offers an opportunity to participate in Zambia’s growing renewable energy sector while combining solar generation with energy storage to support reliable electricity supply.

Interested global partners can contact Tracer World Chief Executive Officer Mian Tariq Mahmood in Islamabad, Pakistan, through the company’s contact number or email address provided for project inquiries.

The company has clarified that all project figures, regulatory approvals, commercial arrangements, and contracts remain subject to independent due diligence. Final investment decisions will therefore depend on verification of the project’s technical, financial, legal, regulatory, and commercial conditions.
